    Our firm, Sigma Threat Management Associates, is one of the country’s leading firms in behavioral threat assessment, threat management, and violence prevention.  The need for our company’s services is growing as we handle threat investigations directly and as we  train clients how to build and operate threat assessment teams and programs and help them develop their own ability to assess and manage threatening situations in accordance with best practices. Our clients include businesses, colleges/universities, k-12 public and private schools, AND law enforcement and security organizations.  To meet the demand for our services, we are looking for a DMV-based junior chief of staff to work directly with our CEO to manage the company’s priorities and ensure that we fulfill on our business commitments.  You will be working side by side with some of the nation’s leading experts in the field of threat assessment and violence prevention.  This opportunity will enable you to learn more about this important field and to contribute in a meaningful way to our administration, operations, and meeting management. This is a part-time contract role with the hope that it will evolve into a full-time job.  


    As our Junior Chief of Staff, you will assist our CEO in identifying and fulfilling on the company's operational priorities.  This will include:

    • Attending meetings and events with the CEO/key internal players and summarizing key takeaways and action items.
    • Being the go-to for important internal and external meetings -- overseeing preparation and planning (administering calendar and meetings scheduling, drafting the agenda, inviting participants, managing RSVPS) to taking notes, and most importantly, ensuring that action items from meetings are followed up upon.
    • Reviewing and assisting with developing and distributing agreements, contracts, proposals, and invoices.
    • Handling daily company needs and any issues that arise including ordering and restocking office supplies, managing vendors, troubleshooting equipment issues. 
    • Engaging with the team to involve managing client communications over email and phone with internal staff, advisors, clients, and vendors.

You’re in your element working to tight deadlines under pressure, overcoming barriers and problem-solving along the way. You’re someone with a positive energy that people want to work with because they can rely on you. You don’t mind starting a project based on a short 10-minute conversation. You’re an independent self-starter, but you’re not afraid of asking for help or admitting you’ve made a mistake.  We’d like you to have the following background/skills:

    • Must be located in DC, MD, or VA, and willing to work out of our Alexandria-based office when needed; some of this work can be done remotely as well.
    • Recent undergraduate or current undergraduate with some work/internship experience. 
    • Experience (internship is fine) or serious interest in working with a startup/small firm that is growing rapidly. 
    • Great organizational skills including references who will speak to your time management, scheduling acumen, and adherence to deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal so please make sure your resume represents you well and that you are ready for any follow-on phone interviews/email interactions. 
    • Some experience with proposal development would be helpful, but not required.
    • Tech and web-savvy with the ability to learn new concepts quickly.
    • Proficiency with  Google for Business or Microsoft Office Suite.
